Ιωάννης Φιλίστωρ
Στις 31 Ιουλίου 1920 δολοφονήθηκε στο
κέντρο της Αθήνας ένας από τους αρχηγούς της "Ηνωμένης
Αντιπολίτευσης", ο Ίων Δραγούμης. Ο τρόπος της δολοφονίας ήταν στυγνός και
εν ψυχρώ ενώ σημαντικά πολιτικά πρόσωπα της εποχής συνδέονταν με αυτόν είτε έμμεσα
(Ρέπουλης) είτε άμεσα (Μπενάκης).
Για
τους λόγους αυτούς η εκτέλεση του Ίωνος Δραγούμη μέρα μεσημέρι στους
Αμπελόκηπους από τα Βενιζελικά "τάγματα ασφαλείας" του Γύπαρη, είχε
σημαντικές πολιτικές προεκτάσεις και αναμφίβολα επηρέασε το τελικό αποτέλεσμα
των εκλογών του Νοεμβρίου του 1920.
Τον Ιανουάριο του 1922 συντάχθηκε το επίσημο κατηγορητήριο της
Εισαγγελίας Αθηνών για την παραπομπή των κατηγορουμένων της δολοφονίας
Δραγούμη, που προέκυψε μετά από πολλές ανακρίσεις και έρευνες. Να σημειωθεί ότι
ο σχετικός φάκελος "χάθηκε" όλως τυχαίως μετά το πραξικόπημα (η
"επανάσταση" όπως γράφει ο Δαφνής) των αδιάφθορων Πλαστήρα - Γονατά.
Αν διαβάσουμε τα ονόματα όσων θα παραπέμπονταν σε δίκη (όλοι Βενιζελικοί και
συνεργάτες της "επανάστασης") αντιλαμβανόμαστε γιατί...."....Την στιγμήν ακριβώς ταύτην
αλαλαγμοί των ορδών του Γύπαρη και των άλλων μισθοφόρων δολοφόνων δονούσι τον
αέρα "νάτος, νάτος, σκοτώστε τον προδότη τον κακούργον, τον δολοφόνον, ήτο
και η Κοτοπούλη μαζί του, που είναι η Κοτοπούλη" άμα ως εθεάθη, μακρόθεν
σχετικώς, το φέρον τον Δραγούμην αυτοκίνητον.
Τούτο φθάσαν προ της επαύλεως σταματά
αναγκαστικώς, πολίται δε και στρατιώται του Γύπαρη επιτίθενται κατά αυτού μετά
μανίας και βια τον καταβιβάζουσιν αυτού, ενώ συγχρόνως δέχεται χτυπήματα δια ξιφολογχών,
ροπάλων και γρόνθων. Μεταξύ των επιτεθέντων αναγνωρίζονται οι κατηγορούμενοι
Αντωνιάδης όστις εξαγάγων το περίστροφο του εζήτησε να επιτεθεί κατά αυτού,
Μαλιγκουνάκης, Χατζόπουλος και Πεζαζόγλου, ενώ ο κατηγορούμενος επιλοχίας
Σαρτζέτης ο ορισθείς κατόπιν ως αρχηγός της της συνοδείας δις δια περιστρόφου
απεπειράθει να τον φονεύσει , ανεχαιτίσθει όμως υπό του Γύπαρη.
Και
ενώ τοιούτον διέτρεχε κίνδυνον η ζωή του Δραγούμη από στιγμήν προς στιγμή ο
κατά τας αγρίας ταύτας επιθέσεις παριστάμενος κατηγορούμενος Μπενάκης, ο τόσο
ασκών επιβολή επί των Βενιζελικών όχι μόνο ουδεμίαν καταβάλλει προσπάθειαν όπως
αποτρέψει τούτον, αλλά και τουναντίον θέτει έλαιον εις την πυράν λέγων προς
τους παρευρισκόμενους "εδώ τον πρόεδρο μας σκοτώνουν και ημείς θα τους φυλάμε"....
Εν τω οικήματι εισέρχονται συγχρόνως οι
κατηγορούμενοι Αντωνιάδης, Μελιγκουνάκης, Χατζόπουλος, ένθα συσκέπτονται μετά
του Γύπαρη, όστις εξέρχεται μετ΄ολίγον και εκλέγει εκ των προσφερόμενων όπως
συνοδεύσωσιν τον Δραγούμη απόσπασμα εκ των Θ. Κατσίγαρη Λοχίου, Γιαλεδάκη,
Δασκαλογρηγοράκη, Καλλιτσάκη, Καραβανάκη, Μαυρογένη, Ξυδάκη, Παντελάκη,
Χαλκιαδάκη, Χριστοδουλάκη απάντων στρατιωτών του σώματος Γύπαρη και
κατηγορουμένων. Παραλαβόντες ούτοι αμέσως τον Δραγούμην και φέροντες ανηρτημένα
τα όπλα των επ΄ώμου πορεύοντο πεζή προς τας Αθήνας καίτοι εστάθμευον εκεί
αυτοκίνητα.
Όταν δ΄ αυτή ούτω βαδίζουσα είχε πλησιάσει
κάτωθι των Στρατιωτικών λοτρών, και εις την θέσιν εν η υπάρχει το υψηλότερον
φυσικόν προτείχισμα, ο επί κεφαλής ταύτης Σαρτζέτης σταματά δια των λέξεων
"αυτού, αυτού" μετά δε την στάσην της, απευθυνόμενος προς τον
Δραγούμην του λέγει "στάσου, θα σε σκοτώσωμεν", συγχρόνως δε τον ώθει
μετά σκαιότητος προς το πεζοδρόμιον, τον τοποθέτει προ του προτειχίσματος με
μέτωπον προς την οδόν επί του άκρου της οποίας παρατάσσονται αμέσως οι στρατιώται προς ους δίδεται αμέσως το παράγγελμα
"πυρ".
Μια ομοβροντιά διασχίζει τον ορίζοντα, και ο Δραγούμης όστις,
κατ΄αυτήν πίπτει νεκρός, αλλά και κατ΄αυτού άπνου πεσόντος και δια δευτέραν
φοράν εκκενούσι τα όπλα των οι δολοφόνοι και μετ΄αυτό λογχίζουν το άψυχο σώμα.
